Museum of Pop Music
Hello! Apo (@apocryphally1The Museum of Pop Music is an online archive tracing the history of recorded popular music from 1860 to the 1930s. It organizes and presents classic songs that served as the foundation for contemporary artists, along with recording dates, artists, labels, and background information. In addition to documenting the audio recordings themselves, the archive also focuses on the relationship between music and society, including the political and cultural context of the era in which the songs were recorded, as well as the history of technological innovation.
We are currently expanding our explanatory content to convey the story of each song, rather than just a list.
While many discographies are organized by artist for collectors, this site creates a list that traces the history of music in the order of recordings. The goal of this site is to integrate popular music records scattered on the web, focusing on old recordings from around 1890, into one resource that anyone can access.
